A very nice review from The Ultimate Book Nook! Here's an excerpt:

Heavey's writing is wonderful. She can bring you into this world seamlessly and it makes it hard to come out of it. Her imagery and prose are beautiful. I will admit, too, that it seeped into my dreams on a few occasion causing some fitful nights of sleep! All the characters are real and like-able, at least in the beginning! Maggie was especially relate-able. You see her morals and values throughout. All she wanted was a little reprieve from reality, who can't relate to that?

Read the whole review here. And The Ultimate Book Nook isn't a bad book review site in general, if you like to follow those things!

Viral Reviews

Now that I've had a couple free book giveaways, reviews are beginning to pop up here and there on the internet. The idea is that word-of-mouth will help promote my book. At any rate, I am very happy with what readers are saying. No bad reviews yet, but definitely some good ones:

I just finished Night Machines. I wasn't too sure about this book in the beginning but by the end I couldn't put it down. This is the author's only book so again I think it was well written especially for it being her first book. This was a freebie so some of you may already have it. I know my freebies latley have been getting lost in the archives. This is a book you may want to move to your TBR pile:)

and another:

Part chick lit, part fantasy, part science fiction, part horror and part thriller. At times it felt schizophrenic and hard to believe, but through it all, somehow it worked as a novel that draws you in and doesn't let go.

Glad the readers are enjoying it! That's the point, after all.

…and again!

I am remiss.

I forgot to thank my friend, Meira Pentermann, in the previous post. Meira helped me through the process of creating a properly formatted ebook version of Night Machines and I am grateful for her support.

When she isn't busy mentoring other authors, Meira writes fascinating fiction. Her current release, Nine-Tenths, is pure heart-pounding, dystopian suspense. You can read my review of it here. Her earlier book, Firefly Beach, is also a captivating read, more meditative and "cozy" than Nine-Tenths.
